Homework project - Proyecto Tareas

Yesterday was the last day of Tareas or homework club. The school year is ending, and christmas is coming. So lots of the projects are coming to an end for this year. Once the school year starts again, the projects will start up again. During the vacation period (january and february) the kids can come to vacaciones utiles (soon more about this project)

Tareas or Homework club, is a project that is going on every school day from 3pm until 5pm. The kids of San Isidro (and surroundings) are welcomed by our volunteers.
The volunteers help with the homework. Intiwawa offers a little library and school material to finish school assignments and help with studying. After finishing homework, the kids get a healthy snack. (this made of natural products)

On fridays instead of homework, there are activities. The volunteers prepare some fun games or play sports with the kids.

Feliz Navidad

Our volunteers are working hard at the moment to prepare christmas for the kids of Coporaque and Salinas this weekend. Next week thursday it's the turn of San Isidro. We wish all the best to our kids and volunteers. That everyone may have a wonderful time. This is a time to let kids be kids, to share with family and friends and to be grateful.

Intiwawa is grateful we have a lot of people caring about our children. We are also grateful for all the hard work and dedication of many volunteers and ex-volunteers.

Here some images of the christmas activities last year, we are looking forward to the new ones:

The IntiWawa-team

What is Intiwawa?

INTIWAWA is a young non-governmental organization that is located in Arequipa, Peru; as well as Emsdetten, Germany. The name IntiWawa is Quechua and means “Children of the Sun".

The primary goal of our organization is to help young men and woman and –together with them- improve their everyday situation. At this point we mainly work in San Isidro, a small village of about 90 families, located approximately 45 minutes from the City-Centre of Arequipa.

The inhabitants of this village suffer from malnutrition, lack of education, alcoholism and domestic violence. Missing sanitary arrangements and unclean water lead to diseases caused by the lack of hygiene. Furthermore, there is a constant shortage of financial capacity to afford basic human requirements such as medicine or a proper water supply
system.

The aim of IntiWawa is to fight existing problems, as well as research and fight the root causes of these problems, in order to prevent their development in the first place.
To achieve these goals, we need as much support as we can get from motivated and energetic voluntary workers as well as financial support to carry out our projects.

During the weekend we also do projects in two nearby mountain villages, named Salinas and Coporaque.
